Who We Are
Ferdows is a Persian immersion and cultural education centre. We are a proud member of Golestan Colab, a collection of eleven Persian immersion schools all across the United States. The original idea was developed by Yalda Modabber the co-founder of Golestan Kids.
Our ideology is a hybrid of Montessori and Waldorf with the focus on language, math, science, art and culture. We currently offer a range of classes during the week and on weekends for all ages. Our classes and Farsi circle time is based on a monthly themes. Learning material and tools are carefully selected mostly from Montessori, which will provide kids with a full experience of math, science, practical life and art. Although we have our main focus on Persian language, we are not a language centre. Children become native Persian speakers by being fully immersed in a nurturing and loving environment, not through direct instructions.
We know that our kids are our future and their early childhood development has a great impact on who they become and how they will contribute to their society. The mission of the organization is multifold. Ferdows strives to cultivate young people with knowledge of and respect for Persian language and culture to foster their development as active members of a diverse and multicultural community. We endeavor to provide quality education in a safe, diverse, nurturing and creative environment that helps the development of the whole child, drawn from a diverse set of educational philosophies. Our curriculum is very carefully designed and is a hybrid of Waldorf and Montessori.
Ferdows Kids spreading its wings: collaborating with organizations sharing the same values and goals.
PRESCHOOL PERSIAN IMMERSION
(2.5 TO 4.5 YEARS)
At Ferdows we use a wide variety of mediums and tools, selected carefully to flourish our children’s love for learning. More than 80% of our learning tools are selected from Montessori (science, math, practical life). Our aesthetics and affinity for all that is natural and not branded and emphasis on imaginative play and storytelling are directly borrowed from Waldorf philosophies. Each month we plan most of our daily activities based on the theme of the month. Practical life activities such as sorting, pouring and manipulating are daily activities for the children, helping them growing up into confident individuals. Knowing the importance of individuality we integrate practical life activities with group fun activities such as dancing and singing.
We believe that music and singing songs and poems are what bring children’s attention to their surroundings and giving them the possibility of expressing themselves. Knowing the importance of art in kids’ creativity and brain architecture, our art projects help kids explore a wide variety kinds of materials, such as: water colors, tempera, clay, collage, pastels.Classes include a healthy and organic snack. We also provide homemade, organic lunch by demand.
